The return of Ratt n Roll started this year with their brand new record, Infestation, which is a solid record from start to finish. Definitely check it out. Ratt brought their 2010 summer tour to Atlantic City to the Hilton Theater Friday night. A bit loud for me, in fact I heard that they almost blew out the PA system. The show... fantastic!!! Classics like You're In Love, Lay It Down, and Lovin' You Is A Dirty Job... new tracks like Best Of Me, Eat Me Up Alive, and Last Call sounded perfect with the hits, and deeper cuts like The Morning After and Nobody Rides For Free were awesome. Round and Round closed the show... but there was more... the band came back out to rip through a cover of Walkin' the Dog. One thing is obvious from Friday night... Ratt still has it!!!

A little meet n greet after the show was the perfect end of a great night of Rattin' n Rollin'...

May 17th??? Really??? Well, I'm back. Blogging drains me. Actually, just a little lazy I guess. Big weekend... KISS of Friday... HEART on Saturday. So here's my reviews...

KISS - Susquehanna Bank Center - Friday night KISS brought the Hottest Show on Earth Tour to Camden. Yes, Camden, not Philly Paul Stanley. You were in Jersey jackass. More on good ole' Paul in a few. A KISS is never boring. Fire, giant screen, blah blah blah. Gene was on. He's great. Full of himself, but always fun to watch. The best part of the show was Gene flying into the rafters. Rather have heard God of Thunder, but I Love it Loud wasn't bad. Deuce, Detroit Rock Center, and Cold Gin were really god. Crazy, Crazy Nights??? Lick it Up might be one of the worse songs ever. They ripped into Whole Lotta Love and Won't Get Fooled Again which was pretty good. Overall a good show, but Paul Stanley is the most annoying frontman EVER!!! Put a shirt on. It's not the 70's anymore. Man boobs are not attractive. The voice is a bit shot and no need to talk in between every song...

HEART - Caesars - If you've never seen Heart, boy are you missing out. Ann Wilson's voice is just as good, if not better than when she was younger. Nancy Wilson... DREAMY and she rocks as well. The show was amazing. Heartless... Never... Straight On... These Dreams... Alone... Magic Man... Crazy On You... Barracuda... and then covers of What Is and What Should Never Be and Love Reign O'er Me. It's all about Zep and Who covers this weekend I guess. The show hands down blew KISS away. And then there was the meet n greey before the show...

Traffic was a nightmare. Ran six blocks with the meet n greet photographer. Got there with minutes to spare. Then she walked in... I almost fainted... again!!! Second time I've meet Nancy Wilson and the same feeling... again. I've met so many rock stars, but she gets me everytime. I got a bunch of pics with them and both, Ann and Nancy were super cool. Awesome to meet the great female voice in rock. Ann is second to none!!!

Last week was nonstop... SharkFest 2010 announcement and Tom Petty's 2nd Philly announcement. We also crowned the Greatest Classic Rock Guitarist of All Time as voted by you, the Shark listeners. The tournament was a lot of fun and it came down to Hendrix and Eddie Van Halen. Hendrix won by two votes. Thanks for all your votes on the Sharkline and on my Facebook page. Another tournament is in the works. Keep listening for details. We also started giving away I Wanna Rock Live tickets. If you're a big 80's fan, this show is for you. It features Dee Snider of Twisted Sister, Lita Ford, Jeff Keith of Tesla, and Mark Slaughter of Slaughter. The show is May 15th at the Hilton Casino and it's being filmed for A&E TV. The phones have been blowing up all week and more tickets will be up for grabs the next two weeks. Also, thank you to everyone that visited me and the Shark Patrol at the Atlantic County Harley Davidson's Open House on Saturday. Great weather and AC Harley knows how to throw a party. Just got the new Ratt record, Infestation. Ummmm... wow!!! I didn't have the highest of expectations. The record simply rocks. If you were a Ratt fan back in the day and liked the first two records, Out of the Cellar and Invasion of Your Privacy, Infestation is definitely for you!!! The first three songs are stellar. Well I've been saying this for a week or so now that McNabb will not be an Eagle this season. Now it's officially true. And a Redskin at that??? I will still support my position like I have for years now, Donovan McNabb is the best QB the Eagles have ever had. He should be the starter in Philly this year. But that will not be. The Kevin Kolb era begins. I have NO confidence in Mr. Kolb. And if he gets hurt??? Michael Vick??? Oh please.

How does Coach Andy Reid stick around??? He and his coaching staff haven't exactly put McNabb in the best position. Refuse to run the ball. Pass Pass Pass. Wait til Kevin Kolb is throwing all the time with NO running game??? This season should be a real treat. Coach Reid has stated for years now that... "McNabb.. uhhhh... ummm... is and will be... ummmm... the starting quarterback... and uhhhhhhhhhh... ummmmmm... for the Philadelphia Eagles... and uhhhhhhh... and I have complete... ummmmmmm... confidence in... and uhhhhhhh... ummmmmm... Donovan." Reid most go. End of story. Period.

Maybe it is time for a change. Then oust Reid too. He is way more to blame for the short comings of McNabb and the Eagles then Donovan is. Whatever...

I've said it before and I'll say it again... Donovan McNabb should be an Eagle. He is the greatest QB in Eagles history. Super Bowl appearance. 9-7 in the playoffs. NFC Championship games. Most while have no or very little offensive help. No other Eagle QB has even come close to this. But lets run him out of town. Worse of all, send him to the Raiders??? Dan Marino never won a ring. Miami still loves him. John Elway didn't til the last two years of his career. Denver still loved. Jim Kelly??? Still a favorite in Buffalo. But Philly loves to hate it's stars. Philly booed Mike Schmidt. They've booed Ryan Howard. The whole Santa thing. McNabb is Philly's best chance at a Super Bowl in 2010. Not Kevin Kolb. Damn sure not Michael Vick. You have all these weapons... Jackson, Maclin, Celek, Bell, McCoy. Last years collapse was not McNabb's fault. The defensive fell apart. The coaching was brutal. No running game. Westbrook completely disappeared, but all the blame always seems to fall on #5. It's B.S. and I'd say that to any Eagles fan... including you TOM...

Train/Butch Walker & Monday Morning...

Saturday was an evening at Caesars for the Train/Butch Walker show. By now, you probably know I'm obsessed with Butch Walker. Who? You should find out. So we did a meet n greet with Train. Super nice guys . Walked out into the lobby and there is Butch Walker and the Black Widows getting pics taken. I was standing right next to Butch, but he was busy so I couldn't bother him. Anyway, Butch opened the show with a 50 minute set. Very surprised how good a response Butch got from the crowd. He's a bunch of songs from his last three records... along with a quick cover of James "Laid" and Hall & Oates "Rich Girl" with the help of Pat "John Oates" Monahan. Train ripped through a bunch of hits... "Meet Virginia", "Calling All Angels", &"Drops of Jupiter". Several new tracks including "Hey Soul Sister". Highlight was "She's On Fire" with the Trainettes... who turned out to be Butch & the Black Widows.

And now for Monday... MMA M-Global Fighting tickets for April 3rd. Score a 4 pack of tickets @ 6:15a. Morning Rant n Rave @ 6:30a. Great Classic Rock Debate in the 7a hour... It's been awhile. Been busy. Just launched the Sean Patrick Morning Show on Classic Rock 103.7 the Shark. Good times. Tune in weekdays between 6a and 10a. I'll be "trying" to update this blog daily... or at least every couple days...

Bon Jovi 3.24 @ the Wachovia Center in Philly. This was my 13th Bon Jovi show. First since 2005. Gotta say... damn good show last show. Got the hits... Prayer, Dead or Alive, Bad Name, Bad Medicine, It's My Life... got a bunch of new stuff including my fav song on The Circle record... Thorn In My Side. Couple tunes I haven't heard live in a long time like I'll Sleep When I'm Dead and Something For the Pain. Deeper cuts from the New Jersey like Homebound Train and Love for Sale. They kicked off the encore with Only Lonely from 7800 F. Kick ass. That was the highlight for me. Bummed out they didn't open with Blood on Blood like on Tuesday, but overall a damn fine show. Richie Sambora blew me away. Gotta be one of the most underrated guitarist in rock.

So the Grammy's were last night and well... it had it's ups and downs.

Congrats to AC/DC and Judas Priest for Grammy wins. Green Day too. Not a country fan, but good for Taylor Swift for Album of the Year. She seemed like she was surprised and honestly cherished the award. Lady Gaga scares me. Really, like if I saw her I would run the other way really fast. Boo to Slash for selling out AGAIN performing with Jamie Foxx, TPain, Doug E. Fresh, and the gremlin. Really, why was she on stage and really??? YouTube it. It's disturbing.

Lets see. Bon Jovi... ehhhh. Livin On A Prayer was good, but play the whole damn thing. I hate Sugarland and Jennifer Nettles. She is the girl that ruined Bon Jovi. Black Eyed Peas and Beyonce, including a little Alanis in the middle, were really good. DMB, Mary J., and Maxwell were very forgettable. Zac Brown Band??? Who??? Gaga and Elton was good, except Lady Gaga really, really scares me alot!!! Taylor Swift performance was okay and Stevie Nicks was a surprise. Best thing of the performance... BUTCH F'ing WALKER on the banjo. He covered You Belong With Me on YouTube and his website with a banjo and bam!!! your on the Grammy's performing it. Any other performances were obviously not good cause I can't remember them.

But the best performace and moment of the Grammy's was clearly P!NK. Unbelievable. Stunning. She blew everyone away by far. Love that girl.

Anyway, that is my take on the Grammy's...

So I'm watching The Bacholer... or should I say the girl is watching The Bacholer and I was in the room. I can't think of more mindless trash then this show. Oh wait a minute, Jersey Shore comes to mind. Anyway, if you've never seen the show, the "Bacholer" gives a rose to the girls he wants to stay. But isn't the definition of a "red rose" mean I Love You??? This show is totally de-valueing the value of the red rose. He's not saying I Love You when he gives the girls the rose. He's actually saying I want you to stay, so I can date several women at once, make out and hook up, and basically be a manwhore on national TV and people love it. But if, for example, I dated several women at once, slept around, and then kicked one or two to the curb every week, I would be considered a womanizer. Really??? Reality TV will eventually lead to the end of the world. Oh goodie... American Idol starts next week. I've got the bullet, someone give me a gun...

1. 9/11... worse tragedy that I will ever see in my life... I hope. I just remember my mom calling in me and being on the phone when the second plane hit. Then I had to do a shift on the radio which was really tough...

2. Sammy Hagar shaking my hand. This is the moment I officially fell in love with radio... and here I am today...

3. March 2, 2009... 1st day at the Shark and Atlantic Broadcasting. Survived the devil and very happy to be here. Thank you...

4. April 2003... Philly. Spectrum. Meeting Phil Collen and Rick Savage of Def Leppard. Nuff said...

5. Rolling Rock Town Fair 2001... Jim, Mike, Mike, me, and STP. That was a fun trip...

6. June 10th, 2007... my dad passed away. Changed me forever. A part of me has been missing ever since. Miss ya pop...

7. Roctober 2008. Mom made it through surgery. Phillies win the World Series and I was there. Amazing and freakin' cold...

8. Boston. Vaca with my girl in August of 2008. Fenway. Freedom Trail. Boston was a good time...

9. April 2008... got to interview Joe Elliott of Def Leppard. Idiolized him since I was 8. Cool guy and a fun interview...

10. Roctober 2001... flew for the first time. Survived. One month after 9/11. A week after I watched Cast Away. Went to Florida and landed to watch the Anthrax scare on the news... in Florida!!!

Avatar. Really, really good. Wasn't such what the movie was about and if I would like it. But it's a great movie with great special effects. Half billion to make??? Not sure about that. But a great movie nontheless.

Julie & Julia. Really good as well. Total chick flick. But I'm a fan of Amy Adams. And Ms. Streep doesn't seem to make a bad movie. Dudes... go see if with your girl.

Halestorm - AC HOB... The chick is hot. The record is great. Wish they played longer...

Def Lep/Poison/Cheap Trick - Camden Susquehanna - Holmdel PNC... Both shows great. And they added Too Late For Love back in. Excellent. Cheap Trick always rocks...

AC/DC - Philly Wachovia. Still got it. One of the best in the biz...

KORN - AC HOB. One of the most, if not the most intense band I've ever seen live... and LOUD...

No Doubt - AC Borgata. Excellent. Stay together. And we didn't blow anyone off...

Buckcherry - AC HOB. Sloppy, kick ass rock and roll. Love it...

Hells Belles - AC Hilton. All girl tribute to AC/DC. Outstanding. Words can't even describe it...

Cruefest 2 - Camden Susquehanna. Motley doing Feelgood straight thru was kick ass. So was broadcasting from the show. Openers were so so...

Tiger Woods. Wow. Didn't see this coming. And the women just keep coming out... but can they all really true? I'm sure many are and for that, Tiger is an idiot. But I just feel women are coming out to get a payday. Threesomes? Porn stars? I don't know. I'm finding it hard to believe Tiger was this busy for the last few years. Along with the knee surgery and rehab. Tournaments. He is indeed a man whore, but I believe many of these women are fake. Every sports star should take a page out of Derek Jeter's book. No marriage. Different girl all the time. No says a damn thing. And he manages to have a squeaky clean image.

On to happier news, Allen Iverson is a Sixer again. No, he isn't going to take the team to the finals. But it does add excitement to an otherwise boring team. It was fun to Allen wearing the Sixers #3 again. And he sold out the Wachovia Center... and that is the most important thing!!!

Oh it's that time of the season. Where my bank account goes from little money to zero dollars. Oh well. It's the holiday season and many in my life deserve gifts. As long as the bills are paid, it's all good.

Fantasy Football. Coming down to the end. Playoffs are beginning and I'm alive in all three of my leagues. Good times...

That Metal Show. VH1 Classic. Very cool show. If you're into Metal or Hard Rock, check the show out. VHI Classic at various times and I believe you can check it out on On Demand. Recent guests include RATT and Rob Halford.

Charlie Brown Christmas. I think it was bumped for the President the other night. WTF??? Hopefully they'll repeat it... or Ill just dust off the DVD. It ain't Christmas without Charlie Brown, Snoopy, Lucy, and gang.

Phillies Phever

Big win last night. Can they pull off another win tomorrow night? Can they take three straight to win the title??? The odds are no, but these are the Phillies. If any team can do it, it's the Phillies. Chase Utley is insane. And if Howard can turn it around, then the Yankees better look out.

BTW, how bout them Birds??? Everyone saying the season is over after the Oakland loss. Bam. Two division wins including the beatdown of the G-Men. Look out Dallas.

Sixers three in a row??? It's early, but the Sixers are gonna be fun to watch.

Flyers... 12 goals in the last two games. 7-4-1 for the season.

Philly sports are looking good. Phinally, it's okay to be a Philadelphia sports Phan!!!

The Philadelphia Eagles

Seven weeks in the NFL season. A McNabb injury. A bad loss to the Raiders and many that I talk to have written the Eagles off. Maybe because the Phillies are going for their second straight World Series title. Maybe the Reid McNabb era has run its course. Disgusted by the signing of Michael Vick could have left a bad taste with some. I'm a big McNabb supporter. I have been for years. I still am. He's 3-1 as a starter. He has weapons like Jackson, Maclin, Celek, and Westbrook when healthy. The defense has been pretty good. I'm not sure why so many feel the Birds stink. Their 4-2 and with a win over the Giants this weekend could be in first place. So why? The Eagles have a very tough stretch the next 5 or 6 weeks, but this is a team that bounces back from bad loses (Bengals & Skins last year) and comes through with some big wins against some good teams year after year. So I say everyone calm down, keep cheering for the Phils, and give the Birds a chance. I have a feeling...

Obviously everyone is talking Phillies. Unfortunately, the Phils fell to the Yanks last night 3-1. Gotta say, will all the offense these two teams have, starting pitching has dominated the series so far. Which leads to Game 3 in Philly Saturday night. Everyone knows Andy Petitte is a bog time playoff pitcher through the years. But the real question is what Cole Hamels will show up? Last years World Series MVP? Or this years very inconsistant pitcher? We need the MVP. We need a big win on Saturday night. So Mr. Hamels, what's it gonna be??? All eyes are on you...

AC/DC in Philly

Totally forgot to blog about AC/DC in Philly. Kind of forgot to blog about anything lately. So get ready for lots and lots and lots of blog in the next few days.

AC/DC Rocked!!! Just an unbelievable show. From the opener of Rock-n-Roll Train to hits like Back in Black and Shoot to Thrill to some deeper cuts like Hell Ain't A Bad Place To Be and Dog Eat Dog to the closers Highway to Hell and For Those About To Rock, the show was amazing. I saw AC/DC back in 2000 in Philly and I remember it being good, but not as good as this time. Angus Young is a very underated guitar player. He blew the roof off the Wachovia Center. Place was packed. The Phillies clinched the NL titled across the street, and AC/DC proved to still be one of the best Rock bands going today.

Halloween 2

So I love Rob Zombie. Music and Movies. Two of my favorite movies are House of 1000 Corpes and The Devils Rejects. I thought the update on Halloween was great too. So I was super siked when I heard Zombie was making a sequel to his Halloween movie. Not a remake. A new story, as told by Rob Zombie. So I went Saturday afternoon, though I was told it was garbage. Garbage? No. My least favorite Zombie movie? Yes. Definitely had some great stuff. The story was really good. But there was some of the movie I thought was a little silly. The opening scene with Zombie's wife who plays Michael Myers mom in the first movie and also kills herself was cool. But the rest of the scenes with her seemed to just be in there so she was in the movie. The death scenes were, well, really really realistic. Had me turn my head a few times. Overall, I thought the movie was good, but not great. I also think the movie was rushed a bit. It was announced in February I believe that it was being made and by August it's out??? And why not wait til Halloween to release it??? Definitely check it out, but maybe on DVD or On Demand. Won't mention the movie theater, but maybe turn the sound down a bit. Way too loud...

Currently watching NFL Preseason on TV. Not much into preseason football, but it does definitely get me excited about the upcoming season, fantasy football, and Sunday watching football all day long!!! And Vince Young kind of sucks...

Watched Tropic Thunder over the weekend. Simple Jack... still funny. Alos watched What Happens in Vegas... good flick as well...

Karaoke. What the hell are people thinking? So I was hosting a Miller Light event last week and it was karaoke night. I had to take the mic right after two girls singing "I Touch Myself" by The Divinyls and well, they were touching themselves??? Oh, not hot, trust me. Staind "It's Been Awhile"??? Karaoke??? Really??? I like Staind as much as the next person. But for karaoke??? What makes people think karaoke is a good idea??? Beer??? Some old dude singing Mac the Knife??? In public??? In front of a bunch of twenty year olds??? I don't know. Karaoke... stop it!!!

Phils are slumping. Bummer. Lets go boys...

Got some golf in last week. I suck, but definitely good times...

Cornholing and Cliff Lee

I will say this once... get yourself involved in the Shark Twisted Tea Cornhole tournament. We have hosting two so far... JD's in Smithville and the Rod and Reel in Brigantine. Everyone is talking about it. Well, maybe not everyone, but everyone that plays or watches is having an awesome time. Next up, Thursday night at Shenanigans in Sea Isle 10-12m and the Shamrock in Wildwood on Friday from 5-7p. I'll be their hosting the festivities with the Shark Patrol. Winner... Portable Weber Grill. Grand Prize later this summer... 4 Eagles tix and limo transportation. Good times.

Also, cheers to Cliff Lee, the newest Philly. No hitter into the 6th. Complete game win. Nice debut. Phils are on a bit of a slide, but the Marlins are losing and Phils still rule the NL East.

Sick as a dog. Great weekend. Had to bail on Night In Venice and I'm sure I'll hear about it all week. Woke up Saturday morning and felt like I got an ass kicking... and then another one. Wiped me out. Fever. Chills. Sore Throat. Aches. Cough. You name it, I had it. So I chilled on the couch all day and all night. Lots of movies and TV.

So I started with the AFI tribute to Michael Douglas. Very good and funny. I then watched Super Bad. Still funny. Then a bit of the Phillies game, mixed with some Back to the Future. Then I watched Wonder Boys with Michael Douglas, Spider Man, and Mrs. Cruise. Good movie. Not great, but good. Then the Incredible Hulk with Edward Norton. Very good. Really liked it and much better the first Hulk movie. And then I passed out. Asleep within 10 minutes.

Still feel like crap. But I have to work today. Come say hello at Ventura's Greenhouse in Margate. We'll be hanging with Miller Lite and giving away a bunch of Shark prizes. I'll be the one looking like death.

Alrighty. Busy, busy weekend. Thank you to everyone who came Friday night to Spread Eagle at the Hilton. Congrats to our IPOD winners!!! Saturday I was hanging with the great people at the Captain's Galley Restaurant and Deli on 8th and Ocean Avenue. Killer Buffalo Chicken Sandwich. The onion rings and wings are banging too. Definitely check them out. Breakfast, Lunch, and Dinner.

Sunday... Cruefest 2!!! Fun day. Good time up at the Susquehanna. Thanks for stopping by our broadcast booth. Godsmack rocked. Motley was well, Motley. Sloppy, kick ass rock and roll show. Twisted Sister - Stay Hungry

What Do You Wanna Do With Your Life? Characters from Animal House. Men in drag. Catchy hooks. And of course the right answer to the question... I Wanna Rock. The year was 1984. The band was Twisted Sister. The record was Stay Hungry. Two of the most famous videos that year and well, of all time came from this 80's classic. We're Not Gonna Take It and I Wanna Rock made Twisted Sister a household name. Not to mention frontman Dee Snider on the cover in drag holding the bloody bone. The record has sold millions worldwide with the help of those two songs and other favorites like The Price, Burn In Hell, and SMF. Captain Howdy is a character from the record that Mr. Snider made into a horror movie, Strangeland. If you're gonna get one Twister Sister record, this is definitely the one. They re-recorded the record a few years back called Still Hungry and a 25th anniversary edition with unreleased songs, demos, and more comes out today. So Mister Sister, What Do You Wanna Do With Your Life???

Def Leppard/Poison/Cheap Trick

The kickoff of the Def Leppard/Poison/Cheap Trick tour was nothing short of amazing. While tours like Nickelback, Creed, Dave Matthews, and others are having trouble selling, this tour clearly was not. The seats were full and the lawn completely covered to the back fence. All three bands delivered killer sets. I even got to check out Cheap Trick's soundcheck. Guitarist Rick Neilson called security on me, joking I think!!! Anyway, Cheap Trick ripped thru a 45 minute set that included I Want You to Want Me, Dream Police, The Flame, and Surrender. Poison came out for an hour and played hit after hit like Your Mama Don't Dance, Fallen Angel, Every Rose Has its Thorn, Talk Dirty to Me, and Nothing But a Good Time. And the headliners. Leppard played for 90 minutes and delivered the hits... Animal, Sugar, Photograph, and Hysteria... couple newer tunes... Rock On and Nine Lives... and some deeper cuts that they haven't played in awhile... Rock Rock Til You Drop and Too Late for Love. The whole rocked. Plus, broadcasting the entire afternoon and into the night was awesome as well. Thank you to everyone that stopped by our broadcast tent. Def Leppard @ Download

This is a picture at the Download Festival, formerly the Donnington Rock Festival in the 80's, where Def Leppard closed the night on Sunday. It also was the site of Rick Allen's first full gig with the band in '86 after he lost his arm. Twenty three years and Leppard is still headlining, playing for 80,000 plus, and well, nough said. My boys. I'm so proud. Anyway, Leppard kicks off their North American tour on Tuesday at the Susquehanna Bank Center with Poison and Cheap Trick. Tickets are still available and the Shark will be broadcasting live starting at 3pm and throughout the evening. Get your tickets and get ready for one hell of a night..

Slaughter - Stick It To Ya

For starters, the record cover is a winner!!! Slaughter hit the scene in 1990 with ex-members of Vinnie Vincent's Invasion, Mark Slaughter and Dana Strum, and then added Tim Kelly and Blas Elias to the lineup. They burst onto the scene with their hit, Up All Night, which gained heavy airplay on MTV. Slaughter landed opening gigs with Poison and Ozzy and the follow up single, Fly To The Angels, was an even bigger hit. Stick It To Ya eventually went double platinum and also contained the hit, Spend My Life, the video hit, Mad About You, and other favorites like Burnin' Bridges (written about Vinnie Vincent), Eye to Eye, and She Wants More. Slaughter also released Stick It Live, a five song live EP from the Stick It To Ya tour. The record is one of the last best 80's Hair Metal albums to be released. Grunge hit and Slaughter's next record, The Wild Life, only went gold and contained two video hits, The Wild Life and Real Love. After that, Slaughter never charted again, but continued to release records. Slaughter still tours with various members, though Mark Slaughter, Dana Strum, and Blas Elias are still official members of the band. Tim Kelly was killed in a car accident in 1998. Brett Favre

Alright, up until last night I was highly annoyed by Brett Favre and his I'm retirement, not retirement routine. So he appeared on Joe Buck Live on HBO last night, more on that disaster tomorrow. So after listening to Brett Favre, I kind of feel for the guy... a little bit. After a long season and thought of surgery, I would probably retire too. But after a few months, wife and kids nonstop, and rethinking surgery, I would probably wanna play again. He is one, if not the greatest QB of all time, I guess he has earned the right to take his time to think about his future. He seemed sincere about not trying to cause a stir, but he is Brett Favre and he is going to attract alot of attention no matter what he does. So I say cut him a break. I'm an Eagles fan, why do I care if he plays or not. Minnesota ain't winning a title anytime soon. And lets face it, Brett Favre is playing in 2009. He will be in purple, wearing #4, and will be the Vikings opening day QB on September 13th. He will take the field twice against the Packers, once in Green Bay. That should be a good one. All this will come true, unless injury occurs, which at 42 is a real possibility.

Ten bucks a ticket... x 2 when you have a date. Then popcorn, candy, and beverage. The evening cost $35.50 when all was said and done. Really? I'll call it now. Movie theaters will either A) start closing or B) ultimately have to drop there prices. This is just insane. Ten bucks to see a movie? Exactly how does a guy in high school take a lady on a date to the movies? $35.50? And what about dinner or a bite to eat afterwards? That could ring up to eighty bucks or more. The guy gonna expect some... nevermind. And people wonder why downloading is the craze. It's a good god damn thing the movie was excellent cause it might have gotten ugly at the theater.

And also saw Star Trek. Very good. Where? I'll never tell...

Warrant - Cherry Pie

So by the end of the 90's bands like Pearl Jam, Nirvana, and Smashing Pumpkins defined the era in rock. Songs like Smells Like Teen Spirit, Plush, Black Hole Sun, and Jeremy were the songs of choice for a generation. But before that, the early 90's still belonged to the 80's. Hair Bands still ruled MTV and the arena's and Warrant was at the forefront of it all. Warrant burst on the scene in 1989 with Dirty Rotten Filthy Stinken Rich and hits like Heaven, Down Boys, and Sometimes She Cries pushed the record to double platinum status. 1990 made Warrant even bigger with the release of Cherry Pie. The record was originally titled Uncle Tom's Cabin, after what is probably the best Warrant song ever. But the label wanted a single. A big single. And Cherry Pie was born and so was Warrant's legacy. The record is solid. Hits like the title track, I Saw Red, and Uncle Tom's Cabin helped the record go double platinum. Songs like Mr. Rainmaker, Blind Faith, and Inside Out become concert favs. The record is solid from start to finish. But it all came crashing down when Nirvana came on the scene and Chery Pie has haunted at least frontman Jani Lane ever since. Warrant would release Dog Eat Dog in '93. It would go gold, but didn't manage any hits. Ashame, cause it's a solid hard rock record. Several releases and lineup changes happened over the years, finally the original lineup toured in 2008 but it was short lived. Frontman Jani Lane was ousted from the band once again and replaced. But anytime you wanna relive the heyday of the 80's, throw on Cherry Pie, you tube the videos, and get ready for your hair to instantly get big... just like music was meant to be!!!

So I kicked off Memorial Day Weekend a little early on Thursday at the KORN show. Awesome indeed. Friday was a down day just to chill. Saturday was Buckcherry at HOB. Another kick ass show. Sunday off to NYC to see the Phils battle the Yanks at the New Yankee Stadium. Nice stadium, but not the same as the old stadium. Lots of Philly fans, who tend to get out of hand, which then gets the NY fans to be out of hand and then it's just ugly. Overall a good day and the Phils won. Not impressed with the hot dogs at the Yankee Stadium either. Also took the Yankee Clipper ferry from Hoboken over to the game. That was cool to see NY from the river. Ate at Maxwells in Hoboken after the game. Nice place. Was there a few years ago to see Butch Walker play acoustic. Figured we would try the food. Monday was another chill day, except for selling cars at Shore Toyota from 2-4p. Actually did some gardening. Yep, I planted some flowers. And now it's time to get ready to go back to the daily grind. Fun. Wednesday night... don't forget SHARKFEST at the Hilton. Last minute tickets tomorrow on the Shark.

Ratt - Out of the Cellar

1984 was a big year for hard rock in the 80's... Twister Sister's "Stay Hungry", Bon Jovi's "Bon Jovi", Dokken's "Tooth & Nail"., Motley Crue's "Shout at the Devil" to name a few... all on the heels of 83's megahits Def Leppard's "Pyromania" and Quiet Riot's "Metal Health". 1984 also saw the release of the first major label release from RATT. "Out of the Cellar" burst on the scene with their biggest hit if their career's "Round & Round" and also included the rock hits "Wanted Man" and "Back for More". The record went onto sell of 3 million copies in the US alone. RATT toured with Billy Squier to support the record. RATT went on to release Invasion of Your Privacy in '85 that went double platinum, two more platinum records, and two more gold records before breaking up in 1992. They reformed in 1999, but departed with frontman Stephen Pearcy a year later. Toured with new frontman Jizzy Pearl for years until 2007 went Pearcy returned to the group. Original guitarist Ribbin Crosby died of AIDS complications a few years ago. RATT is tour Europe this summer and will play the entire "Out of the Cellar" record in order. RATT & ROLL Baby!!!

Van Hagar reunion. Nah. It's the opening night of the Chickenfoot tour. Sammy Hagar, Michael Anthony, Chad Smith, and Joe Satriani. CHICKENFOOT!!! May 14th was the kickoff of their sold out mini tour in Seattle. A few problems... like oversold venue. But in the end, the reviews are all the same... Amazing Show. Totally forgot to post this last week. So I got roped into watching American Idol last week because Slash was on it. First off, that dude Adam ripped Whole Lotta Love. That was impressive. The rest, well, not so much. So the following night, Ms. Emotional, Paula Abdul performed her new song. The song, which should be a Britney Spears song, sounds kind of silly when 40 something year old is singing it. When I mean singing it, I mean lip singing. So let me get this straight... Paula Abdul is a judge on a singing show, but she can't sing, and then lip sings her new song on a show that awards the best singers???? And the madness continues...

Rokken with Dokken... and more!!!

As I make my way through the hairspray and lipstick of my CD collection, I found Dokken's "Under Lock & Key". Released in 1985, I played this cassette over and over and over throughout the 80's. Next to Def Leppard, they were probably my second favorite band from '85 to '89. I had a Dokken poster on my wall and a vinyl insert of the cover on my wall as well. My sister also had the vinyl which I played over and over and over again. From the opening cords of Unchain the Night to the catchy harmonies of In My Dreams to the rocker It's Not Love and others like Jaded Heart, Lightning Strikes, and The Hunter. Under Lock & Key is great from start to finish. In fact, tonight's 80's Rock @ 8 features It's Not Love, which was a big video hit on MTV. The look left alot to be desired, but the musicianship and the song writing was as good as anything throughout the 80's. George Lynch was definitely one of the top five guitarists of the 80's. Check this record out. Still sounds good in 2009.

I'm a little late on these reviews. Sorry, kind of busy... and lazy.

Queensryche - Operation Mindcrime. Simply Brilliant. Concept record that was released in 1988 and supported with tours with Def Leppard and Metallica. The record takes you on a journey to find out "Who killed Mary?", though you don't find out until 18 years later on Operation Mindcrime II. Every song on Mindcrime is amazing. Revolution Calling... I Don't Believe In Love... titled track... and the closer Eyes Of A Stranger are classics. Queensryche has toured in previous years playing the entire record with actors on stage. I saw it twice in Philly and Atlantic City. You can also pick up the live DVD of Mindcrime played straight through called Operation Livecrime.

Poison - Look What the Cat Dragged In. The first video for this record was Cry Tough. I was 10. I couldn't tell if they were girls or boys. The cover of the record didn't help either!!! But peel through the makeup and the giant hair and you had catchy pop songs like I Want Action, Talk Dirty to Me, and I Won't Forget You. The titled track is still Poison's opening song on tour. Recorded for just $30,000, it went on to sell over 4 million copies in the States. Most consider it Poison's best work. Just a quick 10 song record, made cheap, and filled with catchy hooks and guitar solos. Oh, and they were all boys... and the women loved'em...

Motley Crue - Shout at the Devil

Since I host the Shark's 80's Rock @ 8, I figured I would give an 80's record pick that you should check out, pull out of your collection and give it a listen, or hell, even dust off your vinyl copy and give it a spin. I'll do this a couple times a week.

Lets kick it off and hang with the Crue and Shout at the Devil from 1984. It was the Motley's second release and really started the train rolling for Motley's huge success for the rest of the 80's. Gems like the title track, Too Young to Fall in Love, and Looks That Kill all received lots of airplay and the latter two getting lots of video play on MTV. But it was the some of the other tracks that helped make this record a classic. Songs like Red Hot, 10 Seconds to Love, and their cover of the Beatles classic Helter Skelter. All three still pop up in Motley's live show from time to time. Their performance at the US Festival in '84 opened up people's eyes to the Crue and the rest is history. To date, Shout at the Devil has sold 4 million copies and is a true 80's classic.

It was re-released a few years ago, remastered and with bonus tracks. CrueFest '09 kicks off on July 19th at the Susquehanna Bank Center in Camden. Listen to 103.7 the Shark to win your free tickets.

NBA Playoffs

Good stuff. Unlike the boring NHL Playoffs, the NBA is HIGHLY entertaining. Lebron is sick. Boston/Chicago series is unbelievable. Sixers playing very well and looking to upset the Magic. The Mavs are making a run. Dwayne Wade is unreal. Chris Paul trying to take down the Nuggets by himself. And Kobe, ughhhhh. Doesn't matter what series, who is playing, every series and team is so much fun to watch. And there is at least two games every night. Sorry ladies...

Vegas Baby!!!

Sorry it took a bit longer to blog about Vegas. The time zone switch is crazy and I'm now just finally feeling awake. What can I say about Vegas??? LARGE. Stayed at the Wynn Hotel and Casino. Wow!!! Steve Wynn knows what he is doing. Right on the strip, next to his new masterpiece Encore. Hnads down the nicest casino in Vegas. The room was amazing. Double sinks. Bathtub with waterfall. TV and telephone in the bathroom. King size bed with the greatest pillows ever!!! Flat Screen that swung out from the wall. Windows from the ceiling to the floor overlooking the strip. Wow indeed!!! Strip was awesome. Harrahs outdoor bar with the best hot dogs in the world. Vince Neil Ink Tattoo shop was cool. The girlfriend even got to go to the Miss USA Pagent. Boooo California!!! Lots of walking. Very tired. Walked through a bunch of casinos, had some beers, bowled (which is why I was there in the first place - USBA Bowling Tournament), ate well, and then circled the Philly airport for 45 minutes in a lightning storm til they let us land. That kind of sucked. Didn't win any money, but didn't lose much either. Economic crisis??? No one told Vegas. Overall, a great time, but glad to be back in Jersey.

Among current broadcasters, he is the eighth-longest tenured, trailing Vin Scully (1950), Milo Hamilton (1953), Herb Carneal (1954), Jaime Jarrin (1959), Jerry Coleman (1960), Ralph Kiner (1962) and Billy Berroa (1963)... LA Angels rookie pitcher Nick Adenhart killed by a hit and run after debut in the majors in front of his father. Only 22 and fought to make the big leagues after surgery. Two others were killed as well. The hit and run driver was only 22, drunk, and driving on a suspended license because of, you guessed it, drunk driving. Literally sick to my stomach as I type this. Adenhart's father stood alone on the pitchers mound this afternoon in an empty stadium. Angels cancelled their game against the A's. Prayers to all involved and their loved ones.

So I'm all geared up for the '09 Phillies season. I got to interview Greg "The Bull" Luzinski on Sunday afternoon (pics coming) and partied at Chickie's and Pete's for the Shark Phillies Tailgate Party (pics also coming). Of course, Brett Myers screws it all up by giving up three homers in the first two innings as the Phillies went on to lose to the Braves 4-1. I think my prediction was 8-4 Phillies. Oh well, WRONG AGAIN!!! Anyway, I start reading that the Phillies aren't that good. Fans are crying the blues. They'll never repeat or even make the playoffs. Hell, the fans even
booed Myers in the second inning. Really??? One loss??? Everyone just calm down. 161 more games to go. The Phils will be just OK!!! Mark my words. And if you start to panic after their second loss that could come tonight, pop in the World Series DVD and relive the magic. Saw a couple more movies over the weekend...

Defiance - Excellent. A Must See. Daniel Craig, aka James Bond, was great. True story as well which made it even more amazing.

Doubt - Very Good. Meryl Streep was great and probably will win the Oscar. Amy Adams and Phillip Seymour Hoffman were also outstanding. Very good movie and from what I here, just has good as the book, which of course, I didn't read.

Super Bowl was great. 27-23 Steelers. I predicted 31-20 Steelers. Not too far off. Puppy Bowl V. It's on Animal Planet. A bunch of pups running on a small football field. Sounds boring. Not at all. And the Kitten Halftime Show was funny too!!!

The Wrestler... Wow!!! Mickey Rourke really is that good. Believe the hype. Check it out...

30 Days of Night... Waiting for the other half to get home, I put this on and coundn't turn it off. Good bloody horror flick. Good stuff. And again, lots of blood...

Valkyrie... Ughhhhh. Not horrible. But not so good either. I'm so over Tom Cruise. Not a bad story, but it kept going and going and going...

Gran Torino... Eastwood is GOD!!! Such a good movie. Should have gotten some Oscar nods too. Great story. Just a great movie...

Slumdog Millionaire... Another great movie. I wasn't sure going into this movie. It's winning awards left and right. It was different then I expected and it was really, really good. Great story. The "Who Wants to be a Millionaire" story line really isn't the main story...

Watched a few movies the last few days. My thoughts...

Changeling. Angelina Jolie was simply brilliant. Clint Eastwood delivers again as a director. Jolie should win the Oscar, but probably not cause I haven't much buzz for her. But this movie was moving and i can't believe a true story. A must see...

The Curious Case of Benjamin Button. Another great film. Brad Pitt was excellent and the makeup for this movie is unbelievable. Makeup alone should win an Oscar. Great movie...

Revolutionary Road. This movie reunites Leo and Kate. Great acting from both as well as Kathy Bates, another Titanic alum. Good story. Another award worthy flick. Check it out...

Obama. Thank you. You give hope to our future as a country. I truly believe Obama will achieve greats things in the next four years and will allow him to be re-elected for another four years to achieve even more.

Not as important, but I'm very upset that Dirty Sexy Money as of now, is cancelled. Still a few episodes to air, but I hope ABC has a change of heart or another station picks it up. It's so cheesy, but yet sooooooooo good. Yep I watch it.

Many, many concerts in 2008. The best would have to be the Foo Fighters at the Spectrum in February, followed closely by STP at Borgata in August. Also enjoyed the Rock on the Range Festival in Columbus, Ohio in May featuring the first STP show of the reunion as well as Disturbed, Staind, 3 Doors Down, Kid Rock, Airbourne (def check this band out), and many more. STP in Holmdel was well, eventful with an hour delay cause Mr. Weiland locked himself in a room. Weiland's solo show in December at Borgata was also something else. CrueFest rocked with Motley, Buckcherry, and Sixx AM. Maiden was great. Journey, Heart, and Cheap Trick was awesome, especially Heart. Butch Walker delivered in Philly as always. Few others... Live, Sheryl Crow, and of course Def Leppard at Borgata was awesome. '09 so far brings Metallica, Motley, and Nickelback. Should be some good shows...

Had the honor of interviewing Joe Elliott of Def Leppard. WOW!!! Thank you Thank you Thank you. Also interviewed Ace Frehley of Kiss, Hinder, and the legendary and very kind Alice Cooper. Met 3 Doors Down, still very cool. Aaron Lewis of Staind, and few others that slip my mind right now.

How bout them Fightin' Philadelphia Phillies!!! I was at Game 5, both nights, freezin' and lovin' every minute of it. I wish so much my dad was still around to see it. '09 looks good too. Repeat??? Why not?

While on sports... those Philadelphia Eagles. In the playoffs and they've got a good shot at the Super Bowl. NFC is wide open. But who knows what team will show up. How Coach Reid will coach. More to come on the Eagles in a few days...

30 lbs lighter. Low Carbed it. Fell of the wagon a bit during the holidays. But who doesn't? I feel better, look better, and can run with the young boys on the basketball court longer. Now if I could only start working out...

A great year for Rock. New Metallica is amazing, as is the new AC/DC. GnR not so much, but at least it came out finally. Def Leppard with another solid effort. Butch Walker continues to amaze me. BuckCherry's new record rocks. Scott Weiland, after a few more listens, doesn't. But new STP on the way in '09. Motley Crue's Saints of LA is maybe the best rock record of '09 next to Metallica. Congrats to Rock!!!

TV kind of sucks. Already had to say goodbye to Boston Legal. SVU has been kind of dull. Smallville is done in '09, as is ER, and of course Dirty Sexy Money is for now, done. Regular Law & Order has been really good though. Loving PTI on ESPN, such a great show. But after May, most of the shows I watch are gone. Dateline has been really good lately too...

Movies. Lots to catch up on. But like I said a few days ago, GO SEE SEVEN POUNDS. Very, very good. I'll hit you up on movie reviews later. DARK KNIGHT. Winner!!!

Olympics were awesome. Phelps. Nuff said.

Went to Fenway and checked out Boston. Can't wait to go back. Yankee Stadium was, well, wet. Columbus, Ohio was a good time. Aside from the Festival and Waffle House at 2am, didn't see much. New Mexico is very dull, but a very nice casino, which of course, took my money. Dallas Airport was the Dallas Airport.

I'm sure there is more, but I'm tired of typing. Oh, lost in the Super Bowl of my fantasy football league. Sucks, but 2nd place ain't so bad, nor is the $300!!! Alright, cheers to 2008 and here's to an even better 2009. Thanks for listening. Reading. And Rock On...

Happy Holidays

Happy Holidays. Hopefully everyone enjoyed with friends and family. Now take a breath. The rush of holidays is over and now it's time to relax, which is what I've been doing for the last few days. Catching up on episodes of The Office and watching lots of Family Feud and movies...

Seven Pounds. Excellent. I wasn't even sure what the movie was about. But even being lost, the flick holds your attention and it all comes together in the end. Definitely check this movie out.

Burn After Reading. Ahhhhhh. This one I don't have any idea what it was about. Brad Pitt was very funny... as was George Clooney at times. Lots of different story lines going on and then it just ended. Typical Coen Brothers movie. Just okay I guess, but I still don't know what I watched.

Checking out some more flicks in the next few days... Benjamin Button, Revolutionary Road, Frost Nixon, and Grand Torino. I'll let you know how they were. Happy New Year...

Let me first say, I love Scott Weiland. STP, Velvet Revolver, solo. I think he is the best frontman in Rock-n-Roll today... and quite honestly, one of the best ever. I was super excited this year when STP reunited. Went to Ohio, Holmdel, and Borgata to see them. So when I saw Scott coming solo to Borgata to support his new solo effort, Happy in Galoshes, I figured I should go. I went and well, I went. I knew I wasn't getting STP songs, though I did get Interstate Love Song. But for the most part, the new record is weak. The band and performance was weak. They sounded alright and Scott was the showman he always is. But something was missing, not to mention he is just OUT THERE. He can't form sentences when he talks between songs. And it doesn't make sense at all and when he finishes you are left wondering...WHAT? Hightlight of the evening was his confirmation that STP will release a new record next year, but not on Atlantic Records, but a smaller label. I don't care. Just get this solo thing out of your system and get that new STP record out, tour, and make the fans happy.

Philadelphia Eagles

You just never know. I went to the game on Thanksgiving Night and watched the Eagles play like I know they can. I've been fighting with people all season long that the Eagles are a good team. That Donovan McNabb is still a great quarterback. Then the Bengals game happens. Then the Ravens game occurs. One friend says they have split personality. Maybe. To me, the problem lies with one person and with most things, the problem most likely always starts at the top. The top this time is Coach Andy Reid. For a guy who says McNabb is his guy and will always be his guy, he has a strange way of showing it. For example...

1. Why have the Quarterback coach tell McNabb he's benched in the Ravens game? Tell him yourself if the relationship is so good and you feel this is the right decision for the team. For the record, a horrible decision.

2. You have Brian Westbrook. Run the damn ball. And if you think Westbrook isn't enough, get another back that is healthy and can take a hit. Buckhalter is too risky. Booker is a rookie and Coach Reid seems to always have him inactive. GET ANOTHER RUNNING BACK so everything isn't on McNabb's shoulders.

3. You can not pass pass pass. Defenses will sit back and wait for McNabb to pass every down. Put your QB in a good position to win and be successful.

4. Don't let McNabb find out he is the starter for the next game from the janitor. Really?

5. Find someone who can get you 1 yard. Hey I know, your boy. You guy. Your QB. Donovan McNabb. It worked Thursday night. Keep that in mind.

Coach Reid has thrown not just McNabb, but the whole team under the bus this season. 6-5-1 should be 9-2 or 8-3, at worst 7-4 and in the thick of the playoff hunt. Another wasted season and mainly because Coach Reid isn't up to the challenge this season, and well, last season too. But when the Eagles take the field next season, Kevin Kolb will probably be under center. Let me know how that works out. Waste Westbrook's best years. Waste a frachise WR that is young and talented like DeSean Jackson. You think this season is long? McNabb will be winning in Minnesota, Chicago, or maybe Tampa Bay. What a shame...

So I've been a big Sammy Hagar fan for awhile. I prefer Hagar VH then Roth VH. I like alot of Sammy's solo stuff as well. So I just received Sammy's new record, Cosmic Universal Fashion, in stores this Tuesday. I heard the title track prior to today from the video which is an updated take on the VH Right Now video. It features Sammy with the only true VH bassist, Michael Anthony. Like him or not, Sammy Hagar is just fun, rock-n-roll guy that is just looking for a party and a good time. My first listen to this record has me really liking it. Sammy's last couple of records haven't been much to talk about. It also proves that this Rock-n-Roll Hall of Famer has made alot friends during his career. Cosmic Universal Fashion features guests including Michael Anthony, Billy Gibbons of ZZ Top, Bootsy Collins, Matt Sorum of Velvet Revolver, Billy Duffy of The Cult, and Neal Schon of Journey. The record is filled with great guitar work and typical Sammy lyrics. Not always brilliant, but he's throwing a party, so what do you want? It includes a cover of the Beastie Boys "Fight for Your Right to Party", which is a song he has been performing live the last few years. Not a good cover honestly. The closing track is a live recording at his birthday bash in Cabo in '07 of VH's Dreams and Cabo Wabo acoustic. The rest of the record rocks. The title track is pretty good, but Psycho Vertigo, Peephole, and I'm on a Roll, which was recorded for NASCAR, are good rock and roll tunes. Coolest thing about this record... printed on 40% recycled paperboard, 37% post consumer, and 3% pre consumer fiber. Environment friendly package. No booklet. No waste. Butch Walker - North Star Bar - Philly

So I mentioned on air that I went to see Butch Walker in Philly Friday night. He's been called my man crush by many. I call him the best song writer today. The best Producer, which he was named by Rolling Stone in 2005. And one the best live performers you'll ever see. He's produced the likes of Avril Lavigne, Pink, Tommy Lee, Fall Out Boy, and Sevendust to name a few. So he came to Philly at a seedy venue called the North Star Bar. Basically a row home made into a small concert venue and a bar. He's promoting his new record, Sycamore Meadows. Show was sold out. Few hundred people I guess. There was a opening act, Jesse Malin. Stop telling stories that go nowhere. He wasn't that good either. Then Butch hit the stage solo on piano and opened with a new track called Atlanta. He switched back and forth from acoustic guitar and piano for a few songs, then his band came out and they ripped into the first track off the new record, The Weight of Her. He performed the entire new record, as well as alot from his 2004 release, Letters, a Neil Young cover, and one song, The Taste of Red, off of his last record, The Rise and Fall of... Alot of the new record is about his house burning completely to the ground and losing everything he ever had last November, which was burning when he was performing a show at Maxwell's in Hobokon that I was at, and lots of breakups. Butch isn't for everyone. If you wanna rock out, check out Left of Self Centered or any of his records with his old band, Marvelous 3. And if you have old cassettes from the 80's, early 90's, he was the lead guitarist for band named Southgang. I'm surprised by the amount of people I know that have those two records. Friday night was also his 39th birthday. The crowd sang him Happy Birthday before the encore. He can do it all. Ballads, rock songs, piano, guitar, or just sit there and listen to the crowd word for word every lyric of "The Best Thing You Never Had". That was really cool. It was a great night. Check out Butch.
