Bon Jovi/Nickelback in Philly

Let me start with, it was f'ing hot. Bon Jovi - good show. But predictable. Jon uses the same lines, moves, and smiles that he has used since the '80's. Livin on a Prayer, Bad Medicine, Wild in the Streets, Have A Nice Day, Raise Your Hands, Runaway... all great. But did I really need to sit thru The Radio Saved My Life Tonight, Just Older, and the worse songs ever... Who Says You Can't Go Home. The encore... WTF? Bells of Freedom?, Someday I'll Be Saturday Night (ahhhh), Bounce (okay song, but in the encore?), Last Man Standing (I wanted to knock him down), and of course Wanted Dead or Alive. So much for an upbeat encore. What about Lay Your Hands On Me, In and Out of Love, Blood on Blood, I'd Die for You... the later two they have been playing. I'd even take Always, Never Say Goodbye, or Bed of Roses. But whatever. The crowd bought into everything Jon said and did. So why change what works... be safe and play to the 40 something house wife, soccer moms.

Nickelback on the other hand. One hour of pure rock and roll. One ballad. Awesome show. Had the crowd rockin' out. Good times. Setlist was...

Animals
Woke Up This Morning
Photograph
Too Bad
Far Away
Never Again
Someday
Jammed instrumentals of Pantera's Walk... and Metallica's Seek and Destroy
Savin' Me
Figured You Out
How You Remind Me

Thank god Nickelback was there, otherwise it wouldn't have been worth going. I'm so over the Bon Jovi thing.

Have A Nice Day - SP
