Van Halen 2007
Well I broke down and went to Van Halen, version 2007 last night in Philly. And although I am and will always be pro-Sammy Hagar, last night with Diamond David Lee Roth was a pretty damn good show. Even Wolfgang held his own, though it would have been better with Michael Anthony. All the hits were there... Panama, Ain't Talkin' Bout Love, Hot for Teacher, Running with the Devil, Beautiful Girls, Unchained, and Jump to name a few. Deeper cuts like Somebody Get Me a Doctor, Little Guitars, I'm the One, Romeo's Delight, and Little Dreamer. All in all, it was a great show. From Dave swinging the flag to open the show to DLR telling Wolfgang "You'll Get Some Leg Tonight For Sure, Tell Us How You Do" and Wolfie telling him "Dave, Gimmie a Break" to DLR referencing to the Phils playoff berth. The crowd was crazy and loved every minute of the night. Though I would have loved to hear Poundcake, When it's Love, Right Now, or Best of Both Worlds, hearing Dave sing them would have been just wrong. Hey Sammy, play Philly or AC. I'm there. And bring Mikey with you since the Brothers Van Halen will not. Eruption, Catheral, and 316 was great too. Congrats to VH for finally giving the fans, well not all of them, want they wanted. Oh yeah, it was really, really LOUD. No I'm not too old, sometimes drowning out Roth can be a good thing, but not all the time. And hey Dave, stop singing I'll Wait, it wasn't good. Throw in Take Your Whiskey Home or Feel Your Love Tonight. My grade an A.
