I Hate American Idol... alot!

Caught a few minutes of American Idol last night and those are minutes I'll never get back. I don't get it. I hate it, hate it, hate it!

Paula Abdul - How is it that someone who absolutely CAN NOT sing judges people who can?
Randy Jackson - What up dog! Man! Dog! What a joke. From bassist of Journey to working with Mariah Scarey to American Idol. Whatever Dog!
Simon Cowell - I used to think he was okay. Sarcastic. Insulting. Good qualities right? Now, it just comes off as an act. Whatever gets ratings I guess?
Ryan Seacrest - ANNOYING!!!

Whatever happened to working your tail off to get a record deal. Bars and Clubs. Taking a chance and heading hollywood. Artist development. Now, just go on TV, win a contest, and bam... instant pop star. It stinks. I hate it, hate it, hate it.

On to Real Music. Real artists. DAMN YANKEES. Okay, cheesy pop rock, but good music nonetheless. Styx, Night Ranger, the Motor City Madman, and a drummer who no one knows. Good stuff. Two records... Damn Yankees and Don't Tread.... and a best of collection. And then they were gone. Classics like High Enough, Don't Tread On Me, Come Again, Coming of Age, and Where You Going Now. Tommy Shaw, Jack Blades, Ted Nugent, and some drummer. Rumors surface from time to time that they might reunite, but nothing ever happens. Check'em out.

The Countdown to...

THE SOPRANOS. That's right, it's been something like a year and a half since season five ended. Finally on March 12th, season six will start. I don't know why it takes them this long to film, but who cares, March 12th is fast approaching and I can't wait. HBO has been showing old episodes the past few months... and you can go onto ON DEMAND and watch any episode you want at anytime. Life is wonderful. I don't excited about watching TV that much. A few shows I like... South Park, Law and Order SVU, Boston Legal. But if I miss them, oh well. I'm sure I'll see them eventually. The Sopranos is one of those I just have to see... as is Grey's Anatomy. I know what you're thinking... it's ER with young people. Not quite. This is really, really good. I remember watching the first episode in Baton Rouge next to my sick girlfriend thinking there is something about this show. Watched another episode, and then another and before you know it, I'm hooked. But now I have a problem. The Sopranos and Grey's Anatomy are on the same time. Funny how there is only two shows on TV that I simply can't miss and they air at the same time. I know HBO will air The Sopranos all week long, but watching on Tuesday or Friday isn't the same. Now I have to choose whether to watch people brutally kill people... or watch people save other people's lives? Ironic.

Music time. I was going through my CD collection the other day, cleaning out stuff I won't listen to, re-discovering CD's I haven't listen to in awhile, and seeing CD's I didn't even know I had. I've been listening to Live - Throwing Copper. Live has become a crappy Top 40 AC band lately, but back in '94 they made their masterpiece. Songs like I Alone, Sh!t Town, White Discussion, and All Over You were perfect. Since then, they've made a good song here and there... Lakini's Juice, Turn My Head, The Dolphin's Cry, and that may be it. But if you want to hear a great rock record of the 90's, check out Throwing Copper. Rock on kiddies.

This and that and the other thing

So it's been awhile since my last post. Not much to talk about. But lets see what's been going on...

The Pittsburgh Steelers won the Super Bowl. Good for them. The Bus Jerome Bettis goes out in style. Cheers!

The Grammy's... big wins for Green Day, System of A Down, and U2! It was nice to see a few rock bands win some awards. Past Grammy shows quickly turn into hip hop shows.

My diet. I blogged at the beginning of year about losing a few LBS. Seven pounds so far, but I was at that a few weeks ago. Hit a wall. But I'll keep on keepin' on.

Checked out Bon Jovi on February 4th. Good show. Bon Jovi always puts on a good show, but the setlist was iffy and Bon Jovi honestly have turned into a house wive band. Booooooo!

Def Leppard's new covers record has been pushed back til May 2nd. Fortunately, leaks on the internet have not effected my happiness. It rocks. Check it out now... or wait to buy it on May 2nd. Definitely worth the stratch.

Congrats to my friend Art and his love Aimy. Getting married in the fall... and i couldn't happier for them. Double cheers for both of ya!

And to T-bone. Stop killing the harmless mice. Stop picking on something that is the size of the palm of your hand tough guy!

Other than that, not much going on. It's f'ing cold and I can't wait for summer and sunshine!

Music. Avenged Sevenfold. A little Metallica. A bit GnR. A lot System of A Down. It's really good. Bat Country is all over radio and MTV. They might been hitting the Ozzfest stage this summer. Rock On South Jersey. Mike... where you at dog?

Where's Mike, I Wanna Talk To Mike

I'm surrounded by Mike's. Seriously I am. My first friend ever was a dude named Mike. I'm still friends with today, except he's now Bald Mike. A little bald in the front, a little in the back, but he kept telling everyone that was his hairline? Right. Hence the name... Bald Mike.

The next Mike I came in contact was Mike B. To protect the innocent, He'll be Mike B. Boy could that boy jump. One hell of a basketball player. Unfortunately, a little left of center. Or maybe right of center. Who knows? Odd, but a good guy. I don't think we ever nicknamed him. But we never see him now, so it doesn't matter.

Next up was Mike Brady. His last name wasn't Brady, but he worked with floorplans, so Mike Brady was born. He's since departed as well. Not dead, just not around.

Then there was Mike. He still around and he's still just... Mike. My boy's step-father-in-law. Good guy. Dry sense of humor. He could drink... and drink... and drink. He would walk home and have beer in hand and another in his pocket. It was a long walk. Mike.

And finally, there was Mike Mosley. Firemarshall Mike. Sugar Mike. Big Mike. He's my favorite Mike. Funny as hell. And boy can he clear a room. He has a gift. Firemarshall because he had a bright red jacket. Sugar because of the boxer with the last name Mosley and the nickname Sugar. And well, he's a big guy. We had a friend one time tell him "he gets bigger everytime he sees him." Mike should have put boot up his ass. Mike is still around I think. He never seems to return my calls. Busy? I guess. But call a brother back sometime. Maybe he doesn't like me. I thought we was friends. Who knows? Mike, if you're out there... call me.

And that is my story of all the Mike's in my life. I know, who gives a sh!t.

TESLA. I don't care what you think, TESLA is awesome. Pick any record, it rocks. They're not a hair band, but unfortunately they get lumped in with the Posions, Dokkens, and Ratts of the world. But give them a chance, it's good stuff... especially their newest... 2005's Into The Now. Rock On!!!
