Losing some lbs!!!

So like a year and half ago I blogged about losing weight. I didn't and my weight loss blogs stopped. Oh, what a year and a half will change. A buddy of my at the station went on a low carb diet and lost 55 pounds in 8 months. Impressive. I started asking myself why not me? Why can't I give up bread, pasta, candy, cake, and such??? Turns out I can and it wasn't that hard. So about 7 or 8 weeks ago I went on a low carb diet. Gone was bread. Soda. Iced Tea. Pasta. Candy. Cake. Fast food. So I looked into what I can eat. Plenty of meat... chicken, pork, steak, and turkey. Seafood, but I can't stand seafood, so that's out. Cheese. Yes!!! Water, Crystal Light, and Flavored Water. I'm in. I've even searched out sugar free candy and cake, not too bad. And the big winner, low carb pasta that taste like regular pasta. Dreamfields. Look for it. Fantastic. Cheesesteaks and Chicken Cheesesteaks without bread. Pizza on low carb flat bread. Veggies and fruits are great too. Most fruit that I like I can't eat, but I'm eating strawberries and taking vitamins to supplement my lack of veggies and fruits. It's working pretty good. Alcohol you ask? Michelob Ultra is just 2.6 carbs a bottle. Miller Lite and Coors Light around 5 carbs. If you like shots, most are carb free. Just don't drink please. This is were I'm at in just about two months...

22 pounds lost.

XL shirts down to L shirts.

Size 36 pants to size 34.

I feel better. I'm more alert. I'm even working out a bit with walking, basketball, and situps. Weights are next. And it really wasn't that hard. I wish I started sooner. If you're looking to lose some lbs, maybe look into the low carb diet, it really works.

Boston Legal

I know it's a show, but if I ever need a lawyer I want David E. Kelley to write my defense and James Spader to present it. I'm convinced they could get me off!!! Not that I'm committing any crimes anytime soon... or ever.

SONGS FROM THE SPARKLE LOUNGE

New Def Leppard. Happy Sean Patrick. Album is so so. Title is growning on me. But lets talk about the important stuff... the songs.

GO - Right now, my favorite track on the record. Hard rocking song that I hope gets the live treatment. The guitar work is amazing on this song.

NINE LIVES - Duet with Tim McGraw. Def Leppard with a country star??? I was not happy when I heard this, but it's a really good song. Got a chance to hear it live in AC and it was dead on. Lep will be performing this songs on a bunch of shows this week. Ellen, Dancing with the Stars, and Jimmy Kimmel to name a few.

C'MON C'MON - The next single. Total 70's glam rock. Great sing-a-long song that will be great live. Second favorite song on the record.

LOVE - Sounds like a Queen song. Lots of harmonies, acoustic guitars, and a ripping guitar solo in the end. Definitely different froma typical Leppard ballad. Like it alot.

TOMMOROW - Catchy rock pop tune. Like it, not in love with it. Sounds like a Leppard song from the Euphoria era.

CRUISE CONTROL - Written about the ongoing war. Has a Slang feel to it. Good tune, but not a stand out.

HALLUCINATE - Love this song. A cross between Photograph and Promises. Catchy, tons of hooks, great guitar, should be a single. A fav of mine.

ONLY THE GOOD DIE YOUNG - Inspired by Steve Clark. Another good song, but not a stand out.

BAD ATTRESS - Loud, aggresive, catchy pop tune about talentless Hollywood. Quick, rockin' tune. Really like this song and hope to hear it live. More great guitar work.

COME UNDONE - Love this song as well. Heavier guitars, but great sing-along chorus that would song great on radio and live.

GOTTA LET IT GO - Another rockin' tune. Mellow with a great rockin' build up into the chorus. Like this song alot too.

Overall, this is a great Def Leppard record. It's a true rock record that Leppard has been talking about for awhile. They finally made it. It's been on constant loop in my car for a week now. It's comes out on Tuesday. Go buy it. Definitely worth the dough.

SLASH - THE BOOK

Wow. I believe I blogged about the Nikki Sixx book awhile back, The Herion Diaries and I hope you read it. Well, I got another one for ya. Simply titled... SLASH. From birth to Guns to rehab (a few times) to VR, this book covered Slash's entire life, which is like 100 times more life then the rest of us has lived. Go get this book now. Read it. You won't put it down. I read it to and fro New Mexico over the weekend. A few things I learned reading the book was...

1. You Could Be Mine, Don't Cry, and November Rain were first visited before Appetite for Destruction.

2. You can drink a bottle of vodka everyday, along with drugs and other shit, and survive.

3. Slash tried out for Poison and lost out to CC Deville. He's really happy that. He hated and hates Poison.

4. Slash has recorded and played with the likes of Ray Charles, Niles Rogers (Chic), Lenny Kravitz, and Michael Jackson.

5. Slash was born in England.

6. He is currently helping original GnR drummer Steven Adler, a high school friend, off of drugs and alcohol after years of battling it.

7. Axl Rose is a bigger asshole then I thought. Wow. What an ASS.

8. Slash has or had over 90 snakes in his house, along with some cats and a baby cub.

9. He designed the Guns-n-Roses logo.

10. Slash, Duff, and Matt along with Josh Todd and Keith Nelson of Buckcherry worked together in the beginning stages of VR and came up with what ended up being Buckcherry's hit "Crazy Bitch.

11. Slash wanted to called Velvet Revolver just Revolver, then Scott suggested Black Velvet Revolver, and Slash then said how bout Velvet Revolver.

12. The real reason Slash left GnR is... well, you'll have to read the book for that...

And I just read (not in the book) that the band had already voted Scott Weiland out of the band before their last UK tour, but was waiting to tell him after the last show. But Scott announced that VR was done, not knowing they were already planning to carry on without him as VR.

4. Congrats to the 76ers and the Flyers. Both in the playoffs.

5. Phillies. Another slow start. But they won today. 3-4. Lets get it going boys.

15. Indiana Jones in May. Totally siked for this movie. It's gonna be great.

16. Low Carb sucks, but I've lost 16 pounds in one month. It really does work.

Def Leppard live at Borgata

And of course I went to the show Friday night. Reo was good, though I'm not a fan. Styx rocked. Tommy Shaw is a great showman and rockstar. Def Leppard owned the night. They sounded as good as ever. Sold out show and they didn't disappoint. Got a little of everything...

Heartbreak, Switch 625 and Mirror Mirror from High-n-Dry... Photograph, Foolin', and Rock of Ages from Pyromania... The six massive hits from Hysteria... Lets Get Rocked and Two Steps Behind from the 90's... Rock on from the covers record Yeah!... and they nailed the new single Nine Lives. I couldn't believe how good it sounded. A great night that wrapped up a great day. New record in store on the 29th. Ellen on the 28th... Dancing with the Stars on 29th... and Jimmy Kimmel on the 30th. Rock On!!!

Joe Elliott

Definitely one of the highlights of my entire life. Friday I got to interview one of my all time idols, Def Leppard vocalist Joe Elliott. Twenty minutes later and I can die happy. Super cool guy. Got to ask him a ton of questions and just chat. Got to him a few things that I thought I'd never get to say to him, since I met him and totally froze. Joe Elliott. Thank You. You made my day. Weekday. Entire Life. Soon to be on WZXL.com.

Ace Frehley

Tuesday afternoon I had the chance to interview legendary KISS guitarist Ace Frehley. Totally awesome guy and a fun interview. Talked about his solo tour, new record, and he even made fun of KISS. Ace thank you very much. Listen to the interview soon on WZXL.com. And the week got even better...
